Our History
Where It All Started
In 1954, Toru Kumon, a Japanese mathematics teacher and father, created the Kumon Method after looking for a way to help his son strengthen his math skills.
Instead of simply teaching his son how to solve individual problems, he created daily exercises that encouraged his son to discover solutions independently. This small idea became the foundation of an educational method used by students around the world.
